Abstract :
In this study, the nature of knowledge management (KM) practices in Kayseri Police Department was tried to be assessed by using survey method. In this regard, employee opinions regarding various KM practices were asked. According to findings, although there exist some sort of KM practices inside the organization regarding knowledge culture, management support to KM practices, knowledge sharing incentives and knowledge sharing, it was understood that KM practices for homeland security shareholders were not at a sufficient level. It was concluded that in order for success in homeland security management, by including homeland security shareholders inside the KM practices, a well-functioning knowledge management system have to be developed. Besides, in this study, positive and significant high level correlations were detected among KM culture, knowledge sharing incentives and knowledge sharing. These results were consistent with academic literature arguing that in order for effective knowledge sharing in an organization, KM culture and incentives for knowledge sharing have to be developed
