Impact of Listing in Corporate Governance Index Upon the Performance of Depository Banks: A Case of BIST
Abstract :
This study aims at investigating the impact of listing in Corporate Governance Index on the performance of depository banks. For that purpose, panel data regression is used in analyzing the data of 14 depository banks, with the five in Corporate Governance Index as of the end of 2012, all listed on BIST. Results of the study reveal that there is no statistically significant relationship between market value and getting listed in the Index. Market value is positively related to return on equity and equity volume whereas there is a negative relationship between market value and deposit volume.
