From Globalization to Subaltern: The Perspective of Asef Bayat
Abstract :
Globalization affected each society on the world in different ways. As a result of globalization, while a small minority benefit from the globalization, a great number of people have continued to live in poverty. Subaltern studies are aimed to write the history of great majority of whom were excluded and ignored by the official historiography studies. Asef Bayat, as a subaltern sociologist, have studied on the attitudes of subalterns in the Middle-East against the effects globalization. In these attitudes an element of resistance can be observed and this resistance is realized through daily life practices. In this study, Asef Bayat’s way of doing subaltern sociologies, will be analyzed descriptively.
