Abstract :
In this study, it is aimed to examine the effects of the social interaction between family members and workers of pre-school education institutions to the social skills of the children attending to them. 20 children, who are attending to preschool education institutions and categorized as with a high level or low level of social skills by their teachers, were included in the study group. Inthe study, qualitative research design was carried out and data were gathered observation method. Children were observed in two different time frames by two different researchers. These observations took place when the family members took children to school and picked them up. In the study, data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis method, observation results were given and findings were interpreted in the light of prior research. As a result of the study, it was remarkable that; pre-school children with adequate social skills have more child-parents, child-school workers, and parents- school workers verbal and behavioral social interactions compared to those of their peers who have less social skills. It was emphasized that the adults in the neighborhood setting an example for the children has a significant effect on the development of pre-school children s social skills.
