Abstract :
The purpose of this descriptive study is to obtain the views and suggestions of the police officers employed in the Province of Rize on salary management and to find out whether the views of the participants vary based on various demographic variables (e.g. age, gender, marital status, education, rank, unit of assignment, seniority, and working system). 205 police officers, who worked in the different units of the Rize Police Department in 2012, were selected by oriented and judgment based sampling method which is one of the non-probability sampling methods. A questionnaire form which was drafted by reviewing the relevant literature was used for the purpose of gathering required data. One way analysis of variance, independent sample t-test and statistical tables were used in analyzing the data. As a result of the analyses conducted, it was concluded from the answers provided to the questions posed to the police officers on salary system that there were significant variations in the variables of education status, rank, age, seniority, unit of assignment and working conditions; however, no significant variation was found in the variables of gender and marital status. The views of the police officers participated in this study on the working conditions exhibit variations based on the demographic variables. In the conclusion, some suggestions are provided.
