Effects of Natural Landscape Features on Rural House Architecture: The Case Study of Begis Susuzu
Abstract :
Natural features of a land play an important role on development and organization of settlements. Begis Susuzu situated in Korkuteli district of Antalya province is one of the places reflecting the impact of the natural landscape on settlement and construction. In this study, the effect of natural landscape features on the formation of local architecture was examined in the case of Beğiş Susuzu. Rural architecture and houses were evaluated in terms of location selection, use of natural material and construction techniques. As a result, geological features, topography and climatic conditions were determined to have an important role in construction and placement of houses as well as in the development of settlement form.
