The attitude of Istanbul press, not promoting attitudes towards reforms of republic, during foundation phase of Turkey Republic annoyed the administration of TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) in every single reform, there were always many publications against the reform and there were some supporter publications also. After that some newspapers in Istanbul had published the letter written by Emir Ali and Ağa Han and sent to Prime minister İsmet Pasha, TBMM decided that they should have charged an Independence Tribunal in Istanbul. A case in which a young preacher was sentenced due to his speeches and works is in the cases handled by this Independence Tribunal. He claimed that rumors about getting pregnant of some girls in “Inas Schools”, which had been established in order to enhance women in society, misled the public. He criticized the women being in community with the dressing way of actresses. In the conclusion of his trial, the committee decided to sentence Ibrahim Edhem Efendi with one- year imprisonment according to the 66th article of Turkish Criminal Law and they resolved him as “He misled the people with using the venerable guise for which people have great respect.” (January 7th, 1923) In notification this trial will be discussed deeply with the documents of archive of TBMM and also using other sources.
