An Overview of Vocational School Students to the Accounting Education: A Case Study for Vocational Schools of Afyon Kocatepe University
Abstract :
Significant amount of qualified accounting professions is educated by vocational schools in Turkey. Accounting, Business Administration and other kinds of departments are actively involved in this process. The purpose of this study is to assess the perspective of the students who attend the accounting class in vocational schools, on accounting education. In this study, Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU) vocational school students’ perspectives on accounting are discussed. The survey was carried out to determine the demographics of the students and to ascertain their views on the accounting. The research is worked on the students who take or has taken the accounting class in Afyon Kocatepe University Bolvadin, Çay, Bayat and Şuhut vocational schools. Survey was applied to the students in May 2014. Frequency analysis, T-tests and One Way ANOVA analyses are performed. By using a simple random method, the survey has been applied to the students who take the education of accounting in the related vocational schools. According to the research findings, it is seen that the 52% of students’ perspective on accounting is positive, 24% is indecisive and 24% is negative.
