Turkish and Turkish Language and Literature Education Students’ Perception of Leading Diyarbakir Born Poets and Writers of Turkish Literature: The Example Of Dicle University
Abstract :
The aim of this research is to examine the perspectives directed to leading Diyarbakir born poets and writers of Turkish literature in terms of different variables according to a survey administered to students of Turkish and Turkish Language and Literature Education Department. The study group of the research is formed of two hundred twenty six (226) female (55, 8%) and one hundred seventy nine (179) male (44, 2%), in total of four hundred five (405) teacher candidates registered at the Dicle University Ziya Gokalp Education Faculty. As data collection tool, a questionnaire of fourteen (14) questions was used in order to measure the students’ level of perceptions. Frequencies, percentage, averaging techniques were used in analyzing the data. Data were analyzed using the “SPSS 20.0” packaged software. As a result of the study, perceptions of teacher candidates towards poets and writers are given in tables and interpreted. Comparisons were made in terms of three different variables (gender, section, and class) in the survey administered to Turkish and Turkish Language and Literature teacher candidates and no significant differences were revealed among these variables. The impact of social and political factors could be clearly observed during the teacher candidates’ perception process of mentioned poets and writers.
