Determination of Yield, Yield Component and Cold Tolerances of Some Wheat Landraces
Abstract :
Ninety-six wheat genotypes (90 wheat landraces and 6 wheat cultivars) were used in the study conducted in Erzurum Ilıcaecological conditions during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 growing seasons. Grain yield, yield components and cold tolerances of the genotypes gathered from Eastern Anatolia Region and purified in the before studies and wheat cultivars were determined and compared each other’s. While plant height and spike number per m^2of landraces were obtained higher than cultivars; number of seeds per spike and grain weight per spike of cultivars were determined higher than landraces according to the average results in two years. All cultivars and 24 genotypes of landraces could be tolerant to -13 ˚C; two landraces and five cultivars could be tolerant to -15 ˚C. While any landrace and 2 cultivars could be tolerant to -17 ˚C, only Alpaslan bread wheat cultivar could be tolerant to -19 ˚C
