Satureja hortensis Essential Oil’s Antifungal Effect
Abstract :
This study was conducted of essential oil which are extracted from Satureja hortensis L. evaluate the antifungal activities of oils against phytopathogenic fungi. To study the antifungal potential of oil, five important agricultural fungal pathogens such as; Botrytis sp., Fusarium equiseti, Nigrospora oryzae, Phytophthora capsici, and Rhizoctonia solani subjected to evaluate their mycelial growth under oil effects. The oil was tested in three concentration with four repeat for each pathogen.The oil of S. hortensis showed 50.50-91.07% inhibitory percentage comparing to the positive control by evaluating the fungal species and oil concentration effects on mycelial growth.
