Abstract :
This study was carried out between the years of 2009 and 2010 in Erzincan Horticultural Research Station. The apple genotypes used in this study was collected and kept at collection parcel within the context of Eastern Anatolia Fruit Genetic Resources Project. Morphological characterizations of apple genotypes were done according to UPOV criteria’s. Morphological, phenological, pomological and chemical characteristics of apple genotypes and their degrees of genetic affinity have been defined within this study. While thirty-one apple genotypes were flowered and produced fruit in first year (2009), this number has increased to fifty-two genotypes in the second year (2010). Because of difference in the number of genotypes, evaluations were done individually within the years. More than 70% of apple genotypes have grown vigorously, upright and spread form, duration from full blossom until harvesting was 97-98 days for (10/5) and 160-161 days for (8/4) genotypes. Fruit weight ranged between 32.90g (8/6) - 311.58g (6/6) in 2009, and 57,94g(13/9) - 361.44g (6/3) in 2010. TSS content changed between 12.90% (6/2 and 14/3) to 18.25% (8/6) in 2009, and 10.60% (12/4) to 19.20% (2/4) in 2010. Dendrogram of apple genotypes showed that while there were 6 different major groups in 2009, this number has reached to 10 in 2010. This refers to wide variation and increases the value of collection. Genotypes numbered as 2/5, 4/4, 5/3, 6/6, 7/4, 8/4, 9/4, 10/4, 11/5, 13/4, and 14/3 can directly be taken into the production. Further studies should be conducted to characterize molecular identification of these genotypes
