Determination of Some Agricultural Traits of Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill. var. dulce) Lines Developed for the Middle Black-Sea Region of Turkey
Abstract :
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill. var. dulce) is an important spices plant of which homeland is west Asia and Mediterranean. Cultivation has been done in different parts of Turkey restrictedly. Total 10 genotypes comprising 9 lines determined by selection under controlled conditions and 1 control treatment (Afyon population) were grown in different location (Kutuköy, Gökhöyük and Gelemen) and were determined their tome agricultural traits. According to results 50 % flowering time of the lines varied between 72-75 days. Maximum seed yield (1437.0 ton/ha), maximum essential oil rate (3.09%) were obtained from the lines numbered 55a69 and 55a45, respectively. It was found that effect of varying environments on the yield and quality traits was important.
