The Investigation of Farmers Credit Card Usage for Supply of Agricultural Input in the Central District of Tokat Province

In this study, the central district of Tokat province of farmers’ social and economic structures that use credit card, utilization of credit cards, and the factors that influence the credit card usage have been determined. The survey was made with 66 farmers in October to December in 2009 and the data obtained belongs to the year 2009. According to research findings, all of the farmers surveyed use credit card and most of them have one credit card. The majority of farmers who use credit card consider the necessity of credit card. The average credit card limit is 3033.99 TL/year and average amount used from credit card is 4581.06 TL/year, used mostly for input. According to the results in the analysis of variance; age and the amount of agricultural sales are statistically affected for credit card usage, whereas the professional experience, educational level, number of individuals in the family, the size of land and the amount of agricultural inputs were not found to be statistically important for credit card usage.
