Title Of Article :
Measurement of Economic Performance in Apricot Production in Elazığ Province
Abstract :
The technical efficiency was determined whether or not to produce same output levels with use of lower inputs. The aim of this study was to measure the technical efficiency of apricot farms in Elazığ Province. In the study, required data were obtained by conducting a survey with 90 farms in Baskil district of Elazığ. Data Envelopment Analysis was used to analyze the data. The apricot production are obtained by utilizing fertilizer costs, labor costs, agricultural pesticide costs, fuel costs and other variables costs as an inputs. As a result of the DEA, the efficiency scores per farm for general efficiency, pure efficiency and scale efficiency were determined as 0.89, 0.90 and 0.98, respectively. It was determined that currently produced output values could be achieved by decreasing the input through savings in labor costs of 33.46%, agricultural pesticide costs of 41.86%, fuel costs of 17.01%, and 17.14% in the other variable costs. Results also indicate that older farmers with larger land growing apricot have resulted in higher technically efficiency, while fragmented apricot growing-land has resulted in lower technical efficiency.
