The Impact on the Level of Anxiety and Pain of the Training Before Operation Given to Adult Patients Who Will Have Abdominal Operation

This study was carried out as quası-experimental with the aim of determining the impact on the pain and anxiety levels of the training given before operation to the patients who are 18-60 years of age group and hospitalized for Inguianl Hernia operation, a class of abdominal operations in General Surgery Clinic of Aziziye Research Hospital Süleyman Demirel Medical Centre in Atatürk University in Erzurum. The data of the research were collected from total 60 patients, 30 of whom are control group and 30 of them are experimental group between the dates February 2007 and May 2008. In collecting data, patient introduction form and Spielberger’in State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and following form were used. In data assessment, t-test, Pearson correlation test, Mauchly’s variance analysis, Anova for repeated measures tests and Bonferroni Correction Analysisi were used. According to the results obtained from running in control and experimental group, in group Situational Constant Anxiety score aurage was found significant in each three time periods (p 0.001) When the pain situations of the patients after operation was considered, the distinction in Visual Analogue Scale and Verbal Rating Scala values of two groups in all measurement times was found significant (p 0.001).
