Causes of Managerial Stress in Manager Nurses
Abstract :
The aim of this study was to determine causes of stress among nurse managers. Quota sampling was used and 300 nurse managers from randomly selected 17 hospitals in Istanbul were enrolled into the study. Data were collected with “Managerial Stress Scale” and data obtained from 213 nurse managers. Obtained data were analyzed with percentages in a statistical package program. Nurse managers were most frequently experienced stress due to working with staff without sufficient education, low income and financial difficulties, long and tiring working hours, possibility of getting sacked, conflicts among staff, lack of a job description, responsibilities and duties unfulfilled by staff, lack of sufficient equipment and work overload.
