Abstract :
Today, developments in assisted reproductive techniques have brought about an increase in the ratio of multifetal pregnancies. Multifetal pregnancy may cause complications that are observed in the neonate and the mother. To overcome these issues fetal reduction processes have been applied for the last 20 years. Multifetal pregnancy reduction is a method where the number of fetuses is reduced in order to prevent the complications observed in multifetal pregnancies. Although there are a multitude of publications both in our country and in the world in relation to the maternal and fetal consequences of fetal reduction process, the number of nursing publications on this issue is rather limited. However, the nurses working in gynecological diseases and infertility clinics have important responsibilities both prior to and following the process. In this context, the concept of fetal reduction and the role of nurses in this process have been discussed.
