Abstract :
This descriptive study has been done in order to determine if there has been any difference between Mongols and Turks with respect to their recognition of emotional facial expressions.60 Mongols and 65 Turkish have participated in the study. The participants were adults and were at least literate. They did not have any health problems on the day the scale was applied and they volunteered to take the scale. In order to determine the emotional facial expression recognition skill levels of the participants “Test of Emotional Facial Expression Identification” that was developed by Dökmen has been used. Percentage calculations and independent group ttest have been used to evaluate the data. While the average “Test of Emotional Facial Expression Identification” score of the participant Mongols was found to be 47.78 ±10.8, average test score of Turkish was 62.60 ±7.6. The difference between the average scores has been statistically significant (p 0.001). When the average test scores were analyzed, it has been found that participant Mongols had obtained their highest scores (59.90) from the emotion of happy, and the lowest score (20.83) from the emotion of “contempt”. As a result of the study it has been found that there is difference between Mongols and Turkish participant with respect to their recognition of emotional facial expressions.
