Self-Perception of Temporarily Migrating Students for University Education
Abstract :
This study was carried out to determine self-perception in various dimensions of students who migrated temporarily due to the university education. Study sample of this descriptive study included 125 first yeas students of Kafkas University Kars Health School. Data were collected via an 8-item questionnaire prepared by investigators and Social Comparisons Measure. Incomes and Social Comparisons Measures of students were compared. It was found that Social Comparisons Measure scales of students with incomes less than their expenses were significantly less than students with higher incomes than their expenses (x² =9.123, p=0.010). Furthermore, students from Aegean and Mediterranean Regions had significantly less than those from East Anatolia (x² =13.336, p=0.038). The self-perception of students temporarily migrating for university education depends on their economical statues and the regions from where they came.
