Quality And Quantity Of Prenatal And Postnatal Care Services
Abstract :
Aim of the study was to evaluate quality and quantity of prenatal and postnatal care services at two health centers one of which was rural, the other was urban. It was a retrospective descriptive study. Data was collected from 367 Pregnancy-Puerperium Evaluation Form Records. Adequate follow-ups during pregnancy for two health centers was 33.0%; 48.7% in urban, 21.1% in rural. Quality of prenatal care was “good” at 85.3% of women who live in urban area, ratio was 56.2% in rural. It was found that quality of prenatal care wasn’t “good” at women who lived in rural areas, who had low educational level, who had no job, whose birth interval was less than two years and who had pregnancies four and above. Mean number of visits were 1.46±1.13 at post partum period. It was found that sociocultural differences such as low educational level, no occupation and rural residence effected prenatal care services. It is necessary that, health personnel must be more sensitive to this group of women and create awareness about the importance of prenatal-postnatal care services.
