The Determination of Knowledge Levels of Unıversıty Students About Sexual Health And Reproductıve Health
Abstract :
This study, a descriptive one, was carried out with the aim of investigation of demographic factors affecting the knowledge about Sexual Health and Reproductive health of these students and to determine knowledge levels about sexual health and reproductive health of the senior class students receiving education Nursing Higher School and Health Higher school of Atatürk University in the academic year of 2007-2008. The sampling of the study consisted of 155 students attending to mentioned schools fourth classes. The choice of sampling wasn’t done. 124 students who are ready on the day when the research was done and accept to participate in the study were included in the study. The data were collected by means of question form prepared by the researcher and consisting of 28 questions. 74.2% of the students had boy friend, and 51.5% of these friendships were in social dimension. 61.3% of the students stated sexual health as healthy sexuality. 91.9% of the students stated that they took knowledge about sexual health, and 47.6% stated book and magazine and encyclopedia as the source of sexual knowledge, It was found out that 50.8% of the students stated that they spoke with their mothers about sexual health and reproductive health, and it was found out that the most spoken subject with mother was the health of genital organs with 30.6%. 37.9% of the students took service about sexual health and reproductive health. In conclusion: it was detected that most of the students participated in the study had knowledge about sexual health and reproductive health at high level, but some of them didn’t have service about sexual health and reproductive health. So, it may be suggested that health staff should held programmers orienting to university students.
