Abstract :
This study was made to determine the effect of self knowledge and assertiveness course on assertiveness level of nursing students. 17 students taking this course were included in the study. Control group of the study consists of 17 female students. The data was collected with ‘Personal Information Form’ and ‘Rathus Assertiveness Inventory (RAI)’. In analyzing the data Chi-square test and significance test of the difference between two averages were used. In the survey while RAI point average of the students in experimental group was 129±18, RAI point average of the students in control group was 129±13 (p 0.05). In the second survey carried out RAI point average of the students taking the course was 148±18, RAI point average of the students not taking it was 130±14 (p=0.007). It can be said that the self knowledge and assertiveness course contributes to development of assertive behaviours of the students.
