Abstract :
Emotional intelligence which does not fall from the current in recent years has been tackled as determinant of success in personal and professional life. The concept of emotional intelligence is also important in nursing practices where communication and problem solving come to the fore. Research was designed descriptive in order to determine the levels of emotional intelligence and affecting factors of nurses employee in an education hospital. In this study, data were obtained by information form developed by researchers in the light of the literature and by “Emotional Intelligence Evaluation Scale” developed by Hall Total 209 nurses emplıyee in an education hospital constituted the population and sample of this study. 54.5% of targeted group (114 nurses) was reached. Obtained data were evaluated by using percentage, average, t-test, variance analysis (ANOVA), Kruskall Wallis, Mann Whitney U and Ki-square tests and it was founded that emotional intelligence levels of the nurses’ were affected by some socio-demographic characteristics such as age, sex, income and the training received. In the line of these results, the organize of in-service training programs within hospitals in order to develop the levels of emotional intelligence of nurses are recommended.
