Title Of Article :
Turkish Validity and Reliability of The Braden Q Scale for Predicting Pressure Ulcer Risk in Children
Abstract :
Objective: This research was conducted methodologically to adapt to Turkish and determine the validity and reliability of the Braden Q Scale for Predicting Pressure Ulcer Risk in Pediatric Patients. Method: The research was conducted between 01.03.2012-01.07.2012 with 148 pediatric patients in a training and research hospital in Turkey. Data were collected by three forms; Braden Q Scale for Predicting Pressure Ulcer Risk in Pediatric Patients, form about patient’s features and form about nurse’s features. The patients were evaluated by his/her nurse and researcher simultaneously. Results: Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was 0.80, and its subdimensions were between 0.72 and 0.82. Invariance between observers of the Braden Q Scale for Predicting Pressure Ulcer Risk in Pediatric Patients was tested by test-retest reliability. It was found that the scores of the nurses and expert was not statistically significant for 7 subparameters and the scale (p 0.05). According to Roc analyse of the scale, the sensivity of all subparameters were high (AUC:0.95, p 0.001), and the spesivity was significantly high(AUC: 52.8, p 0.001). Conclusion: Consequently, it has been concluded that the Braden Q Scale for Predicting Pressure Ulcer Risk in Pediatric Patients which is adapted to the Turkish is a valid and reliable measurement tool.
