Abstract :
Nowadays, with the effect of globalism, natural traumas such as epidemic, earthquake, flood and tsunami and social traumas such as war, terror, domestic violenece, rape, torture and captivity influnce individuals and societies directly or indirectly and could cause psychological problems such as post-trauma stress disorder, anxiety and depression. The approach of the psychiatric and mental health nurses is of great importance in terms of diagnosis of psychological problems, their treatment and developing positive and hopeful expectations for patients’ and their reintegration. Particularly for mental health nurses to protect the individual’s, family’s and society’s mental health, they must have an active role in the post-trauma services for risk groups and in post traumatic stress disorders and the process of treatment and recovery period.
