Abstract :
The family unit is made up of a mother, a father and children within the social structure. In this study, one of the most important factors of sustaining the family unit came into effect during XVII century Ayntab city society. The Ser’iyye records indicate that Ayntab couples observed the duration of the courting period from engagement through to marriage as well as the amount of mihr were all compared and taken into account.
