Education in Tarsus at Process of Modernization from Administrative Reforms to Republic

As in every field, there had been strict reforms in education in nineteenth century. In this period, while the traditional education instutitions were kept stable, forming new education instutitions and making them spread in the whole country was accepted as a general politics. Especially, the years after Abdülhamid the second had arised became the period that most progress had been made in education. In this work, starting from the period of Administrative Refoms, the present conditions of the traditional educational instutitions and the progress and spread of modern educational intutitions in Tarsus, were studied with the changes happened after the foundation of Republic. In addition, the foundation, progress and effects of the minority and foreign educational instutitions on public were searched throughout the missionary.
