Abstract :
With the globalization of the world, both the similarities and differences existing from past to present come into existence as a reflection of culture’s actual entity. Plumbing the depths of the past, those similarities and differences emphasize the societies’ perceptions of individuality and intimacy. Considering the literature as a bearer of culture, the concepts and notions which are adopted by the beliefs and lives of different cultures reveal themselves with the help of literary works. In this study, it is examined that color and number imagery in Dede Korkut Stories and Grimm Tales play a part in the belief and thought systems of cultures. The purpose of this study is to seek answers for the usages of these notions and for the question if there is an essential point in these usages. Yet, as the study includes some borders, the most common color and number imageries of cultures were examined in detail. In this study, literature review, one of the qualitative methods of research, has been conducted and also the results of previous studies have been used as supplementary reference. Based on the literary works, this study have found out that concepts and notions differentiating societies from each other are basically similar and they tend to emerge in the common ground of belief and humanity.
