Abstract :
Many novels and stories especially Felsefe-i Zenân which is third story of The Serial Letaif-i Rivâyât consisting of twenty five books that was written at during period between two constitutional monarchies deal with family structure and the institution of marriage in the ottoman, as a problematic issue.Among of these Works, that can be addressed within the scope of historical novel, ‚Jön Türk‛ by A. Mithat (1910) has a quality of very important historical document in terms of throwing light on the traditional family structure and the institution of marriage, entering the process of serious change, in the otoman before II. Constitutional monarchy.This study bases to expose the social change and the cultural corruption in the process of westernization in Turkey, with the aspects casting the type of novel. Basically, the change and the transformation, that two crucial basic social institution (the famly structure and the institution of marriage) experienced from Tanzimat era to pre-Republic and how it reflected within the framework of feminist trends, especially in the novel of Ahmet Mithat Efendi which is called ‚Jön Türk‛, will be researched. Apart from these; the estrangement, the rebellion to tradition and the novel, will constitute the thematic issues that will be also referred. Among the main problems of the period, like the relationships between young girls and boys belonging to the period before marriage, how Turkish family structure and the institution of marriage are tried to be formed; the feminist approach and the quest for freedom of women in paralel to the changing new conditions in male – dominated society will constitute the basic concentration area of our research.
