Abstract :
Writing skill is a significant ability that make up the foundation of learning and teaching process from primary school to high school. Therefore, it should, sufficiently, be featured in the school book that is the basic material of lesson. From this point of view, in the study, school book series of Turkish by Cem Web Offset Publishing used in the central elementary schools in Kars have been studied by using “The Evaluation Form In The Sense Of Writing Skills Of School Books” constituted by the researcher in 2014-2015 school year. In the research, document review method has been utilised. As a result, these points have been achieved: writing skill is enough in terms of gaining the goals from purposes and attainments to writing rules. Punctuation aim is insufficient in terms of gaining students the attainments. Among the writing aims, “Application of writing rules” and “Script writing in different types” are the most repeated ones. There is no attainment for writer in script of statement. The attainment of “self-expression in written” and “self-evaluation of writing” is insufficient. Pre-writing, during writing and post-writing activities are insufficient in terms of writing process. From the types of writing, controlled writing and guided writing have been neglected in the student book, but featured in the teacher guidance book. Inductive and deductive writing types have not been featured in guidance and school books. Writing skill is insufficient in terms of assessment and evaluation. The evaluation form of writing is insufficient in terms of assessing the attainments of writing.
