Abstract :
Thanks to developing technology, the proliferation of communication tools, the using of this tools in everywhere in the society and especially the children and teens use this technology. Therefore media literacy education has become very important. Accordingly, the lesson of media literacy has been given as a selective lesson in the schools which is related to ministry of national education (MEB). At the same time, the relation of this lesson with language education has made valuable the opinion and perception of the Turkish teachers and the prospective Turkish teachers. The purpose of this study determines the opinion of the prospective teachers about the media literacy. For this purpose, a qualitative approach, was had an interview with the students of Siirt University. In order to determine students’ views a semi-structured interview form was used. Data collection is composed of two parts. In the first part, the purpose of the interview and the personal information of the students, in the second part there are some questions to determine the opinions of the prospective Turkish teachers. In the study, the data was examined by the technique of the content analysis and the descriptive analysis and the views of prospective Turkish teachers on the media literacy were presented in tables. In order to develop the purpose of the media literacy some suggestions were offered.
