VOCATIVES AND VOCATIVE GROUPS IN TURKISH SYNTAX
Abstract :
Vocatives and vocative groups are sentence elements in Turkish syntax which provide the communication between the transmitter and receiver / between the speaker and addressee. Vocatives have generally been considered as “external element of the sentence” in the sources on grammar and syntax; this led to serious problems in the teaching and learning of this sentence element. In this article, it is stated that vocatives and the state of vocative category should not be considered as “external element of the sentence” by including the prevalent views on the vocatives and vocative groups.
