Abstract :
This study aims to provide general information about the definition and classification of didactic works of classical Turkish literature and aims to give an example of a work of this nature. The study consists of three parts. In the first part, the concept of didactic work was discussed, general features of such works were exhibited and the differences of didactic works from artistic works were determined. Didactic work, primarily, aims to inform the reader. There is also aesthetic purposes in the portion of the works written for this aim in the our classic literature. It is seen that such texts sometimes were written as separate and sometimes took place in the large works such as divan, mesnevi and mecmua. In the second part, some determinations about the classification of didactic works were made and the sorting was carried out giving the detailed information and examples relevant to each group. Our products of classic literature were divided into two main groups named artistic works and didactic works in terms of purpose of writing and the works within the didactic work groups were evaluated thematically in six parts: a) The works written to educate the individual-society, b) The works written to introduce person or persons, c) The works written to tell the real life, d) The scholarly works, e) The encyclopedias and the dictionaries, f) The works related vertu. In the last section, there is transcribed text and intralingual translation of letter named “Şikâyet-nâme” of Fuzûlî that is an example of didactic work in the classical Turkish literature. The poet gave information about the his own psychology, time and environment as well as he used an aesthetic language in this work. Therefore, the work continued the it’s importance until today.
