Abstract :
From the 19th century, in developed countries, the place and importance of women in society began to passionately argued and especially Western women have entered into an uphill struggle to have equal rights with men. Following the acceptance of Islam; Turkish woman, who has lost the position she had before Islamism with the influence of Iranian, Arabian and Byzantium cultures and who has been largely excluded from the social life, has also been influenced from this change in the World. Especially, in the period of modernization which has speeded up in the II. Constitutional Monarcy Period, intellectuals began to question the woman identity and they primarily pointed out the issues of women’s rights, marriage and education. In the relatively liberated atmosphere of this period, Turkish women, particularly the ones who have been living in İstanbul and Rumeli, have not remained insensitive and have struggled to voice the problems of women by means of newspaper and magazines. In this article, who made great efforts for the innocent demands such as education, business, social life and marriage, having equal rights with men and the point where today the Turkish women attained, will be mentioned to the pioneering/vanguard women who have a significant share.
