LEBÎBÎ AND THE ŞEHRENGIZ OF EYUP
Abstract :
Şehrengizs that are written for the beauties and beautifulness of a city are one of the literature genres that are caught on for XVI, XVII and XVIII in the classical Turkish literature. There have been 84 Şehrengiz samples until now in our literature that are caught on mostly by the poets of 16th century. However, it is highly possible that this number will probably increase as a result of the researches to be made and review and examination of the different works. We have determined another şehrengiz written about the Eyüp city by a poet understood to be lived in the XVI and used Lebîbî pen name but have not information about his life in the collection of biographies and biographic sources as a result of such examination and research. In the Eyüp Şehrengiz formed of 60 couplets, only 20 beauties living in this city have been introduced and there have been no reference to the historical and geographical features of city of Eyüp. At the same time, the number of the şehrengiz written in the classical Turkish literature has risen to 85 along with the Eyüp Şehrengiz that is the only şehrengiz samples until now that has been written about the Eyüp in our literature. In this paper, there is a brief evaluation about the life of the Lebîbî, and put emphasize on the form and content of the Şehrengiz and transcription of the text has been given.
