Abstract :
It is natural that there is interaction among the artists living under the same political, economic and social conditions and they are under the influence of each other. That’s why it is regarded inevitable that Fikret and Akif belonging to the same generation have similar spirit. Although they are known as opponents of each other ideologically, the have similarities in terms of bringing the poem to prose, adapting prosody to Turkish and touching on the same themes in poems. The relations of Fikret and Akif come up within the discussions of ‘Historic Archaic’ in general. But besides this discussion, it is noticed that there are similar named and themed poems. Although these two poets have similar named and themed poems, the focus of our study is on their different perspectives to life and religion mainly in these poems. Fikret who identifies art with sincerity, supports the fact that the artist has great mission and thus needs to be with the society. In his social poems he wrote being impressed by Coppee, he involves observations frequently. He expresses his experiences through poems. His sufferings about his family in his private life are effective in determining his sense of art. Although he firstly wrote religious poems in his first period, with the things he experienced, it is known that he suffered from the crisis of faith. Fikret just like Akif reflects the problems of his society in which he lives. He mixes life with poems by mentioning about some ordinary problems in his poems. He makes the social issues the subject of the poem. He places these problems before being a poet. He becomes the scream of rescuing the society which is about to become corrupted. He actually shows his artistic and poet feature in his poems like praying. In the introduction part of this work, after drawing the framework of his sense of art, similar named/themes poems have been focused. Then these poems have been examined under two main titles; social and religious.
