TYPES OF ASKİYA AND ITS COMPARISON WITH SIMILAR TYPES
Abstract :
Askiya is a part of entertainment culture in Transoxiana region. It is known only among Uzbek people. It is a type based on word performed by professional artists who grew up within the tradition. The aim is to entertain by making people laugh. It is performed by two or more artists in the weddings, festivals, special celebrations or other gatherings where people get together. There are a lot of types of Askiya. First, types of askiya have been introduced in this paper. Then, it has been determined the similarities and differences between “laf”, which is a word game unique to Uzbek people, anecdote and askiya in order to understand askiya better.
