Abstract :
Waqfs which had important place in Ottoman culture and civilisation were the most remarkable organising elements of social and economic life. Under the changing circumstances of XIXth century some disorders appeared in waqf enterprices. Towards the end of that century, as important resource of income, some waqfs which lost their functions, they become the source for someone to derive improper personal benefit, were evaluated under the classification of extincted waqfs conveyed and assigned to a remarkable field such as education. In this paper this conveyance event will be handled according to its historical process with official records and examples. Characteristics, problems, actors and results of the process will also be investigated under the light of archive documents.
