Abstract :
Nowadays, evaluation is an indispensable process within foreign language education. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, in order to conduct an objective evaluation, the evaluation criteria and scales should be well identified. This study discusses primarily the overall evaluation process, and investigates the oral examination evaluations in preparatory classes in French at Marmara University. The objective of the study is to identify the positive and negative points to develop and ameliorate the evaluation form in oral exams. The research method applied in this study is qualitative and includes an interview form with four open-end questions to collect data from nine instructors who are experts in their fields. Furthermore, coding technique was applied to identify the instructors. Moving from the responses received, certain suggestions were made to develop evaluation form.
