The Universe of Color in Translation

Abstract :
Colors have intercultural differences according to their value and how they are perceived symbolically and culturally. Perceptive and value differences are problematic for the translator in some target languages. Thus it may be difficult to find the exact equivalent of various scales of color tones in the target language. As a result, in translated texts, some colors shine while others, on the contrary, can be dull or completely fade. We will try to examine this problem and the universality of color through selected examples of literary translations from French to Turkish and from Turkish to French.
