Analysis of Pre-Service Foreign Language Teachers’ Attitudes About Teaching Profession
Abstract :
Nowadays the education system is one of the hot topics which is most frequently studied and debated. This basic process that has a great importance especially in the personal development of human beings has been practiced as formally and informally in all societies. Teachers, as the most basic element of the educational system, are an important factor affecting quality and efficiency in the education. In this study, it was determined the attitudes of the pre-service foreign language teachers towards teaching profession in terms of different variables. This study was conducted with 405 students who are studying German, French and English languages in the foreign language departments of Marmara and Ondokuz Mayıs Universities. In this context, it was determined whether the attitudes of students towards teaching profession differ in terms of age, gender, class level, department and the school of graduation variables. The data were gathered by the application of the scale of attitude towards the teaching profession which was developed by Özbek and his friends (2007). The results were shared and interpreted in the part of findings.
