THE IMPACT OF OPENNESS ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN TUNISIA

The purpose of this article is to empirically examine the impact of openness on economic growth for Tunisia using a time-series model over the period 1980-2014. The empirical results show that economic openness has a significant and positive impact on Tunisia s growth during the study period. The empirical results also confirm that the bidirectional causal relationship of oppresses with economic growth. Moreover, the findings reveal that FDI is an important vehicle for technology transfer and contributes significantly to promote the production process andeconomic development of the country.
