Abstract :
In vegetable production, the application of drip irrigation and fertilizer technique decreases the usage of fertilizer, and this reduces the pollution of ground water owing to fertilizer leaching caused by excessive irrigation. On the other hand, with respect to new modern agricultural techniques developed recently, the improvement of appropriate plant nutrition programs is necessary for increase of efficiency and quality. Nevertheless, fertigation is still being applied in limited degrees in most of our districts and there is significant data deficiency in this issue. In this study, it was aimed to determine appropriate nitrogen dose and water consumption of plant with the technique of fertigation in pole tomatoes cultivation in Tokat, Kazova district. In the trial that was carried out using three replications according to completely randomized block design arranged in splot method in field conditions, 39 seedling F1 hybrid pole tomato were used in each plot. In the study, irrigation periods were planned as S1 1 day, S2 = 3 days and S3= 5 days and irrigation quantity were determined based on FAO Penman – Monteith according to the water consumption of plant and soil humidity level. Nitrogen rates were chosen as N1= 20, N2= 27.5 and N3= 32.5 kg/da according to the various researchers’results and suggestions. 20% of nitrogenous fertilizer was used as basal fertilizer and other part was applied by fertigation according to physiological periods of tomato plant by considering their appropriate N-P2O5 K2O rates. Potassium and phosphorus fertilizer were used at the doses of 32 kg K2O and 17.5 kg P2O5 in each plot equally according to soil analysis results for normal plant progress. In addition, other nutrients were applied at the appropriate levels. During the experiment, yield per plant, some fruit quality properties, N contents of leaves, fruits and soil were investigated. Tomato yield was increased with increasing nitrogen rates. S1 and S2 compared to S3 in irrigation intervals showed an increase in yield.
