Abstract :
The primary objective in oilseeds production is to maximize oil yield. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different forms and doses of phosphorus fertilizer on oil yield of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) under Konya irrigated conditions in 2006 and 2007. The effects of two forms of phosphorus fertilizer (DAP and TSP) and their six doses (0, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 kg ha^-1) on seed yield, oil ratio and oil yield of Dinçer safflower variety were studied. The results revealed that the effects of phosphorous doses were significant on seed yield, oil ratio and oil yield. On the other hand, phosphorous forms had no significant effect on seed yield, whereas their effects on oil ratio and oil yield were significant. Resulting in 534.0 kg ha^-1 oil yield, TSP performed better than DAP (491.0 kg ha^-1). Among phosphorous doses, the highest oil yield (602.0 kg ha^-1) was obtained from plants received 90 kg P2O5 ha^-1, while the lowest oil yield (403.0 kg ha^-1) was recorded in control plots (0 kg P2O5 ha^-1). These results show that TSP, producing higher oil yield in comparison to DAP, appears to be a better source of phosphorous fertilizer in safflower production
