  • Abstract
    Increasing World s population and changing consumer habits caused to increase greenhouse production. Per unit amount of product obtained from the greenhouses producing more than the amount of chemical fertilizers, hormones and pesticides are used. In Turkey, 49.000 tones of pesticide and as a active ingredient (N, P2O5, K2O, e.g.) basis 2.1 million tons of chemical fertilizer is used. Plant species, soil and climatic conditions inappropriate excessive and unconscious chemical fertilizer applications give rise to serious soil pollution. The parts of the inorganic fertilizers and pesticides not taken by the plants that are moved with rain and irrigation waters are seen as a threat for plant, human and animal health. In this study, effects of fertilizers and pesticides applications on the environment and human health were discussed and suggested solutions.
