Title Of Article :
Effects of Different Doses of Farmyard Manure And Vermicompost Applications On Vitamin C And Nitrate Concentrations Of Spinach (Spinacea Oleracea Var L.)
Abstract :
The trial carried out under the open field conditions evaluated the different doses of farmyard manure [0, 1500 (AG1) ve 3000 (AG2) kg/da] and vermicompost [0, 100 (VC1) ve 200 (VC2) kg/da] applications on Vitamin C and Nitrate concentrations in spinach. Applications had no significant effect on nitrate concentration in spinach, whereas a statistical significant (p 0.05) was detected for Vitamin C. The range for nitrate varied among 15.5-25.4 mg/kg (Fresh Weight) and was attained from VC1 and AG1 respectively. Vitamin C ranged from 29.7 to 71.6 mg/100 g (Fresh Weight) and was taken from VC2 and AG1 applications, respectively. Nitrate concentrations were found to be lower than the acceptable limits, but Vitamin C was measured in higher levels. On the whole, AG1 gave the nitrate concentration that is under the acceptable limit and the highest vitamin C concentration and that was determined to be used successfully.
