Abstract :
Objectives: To translate, cross-culturally adapt and assess psychometric properties of a Moroccan Arabic version of the Lequesne algofunctional index of the knee. Methods: The Lequesne index was translated from French to Moroccan Arabic following available guidelines. Thirty patients participated in the pretesting of the adapted version. Data collected among 100 patients were used to assess psychometric properties. Results: Acceptable internal consistency (α≥0.7) was observed as well as good item-to-scale correlations (r 0.5). Factor analysis yielded two extracted factors. The findings of hypothesized correlations supported convergent and divergent construct validities. Test-retest reliability was very good for all items (ICC: 0.95 to 0.98) and sections (ICC: 0.95 to 0.99) as well as for the global score (ICC=0.97). Conclusions: the Moroccan version of the Lequesne algofunctional index demonstrated acceptable reliability and validity among Moroccan patients with knee osteoarthritis. This supports its use as an outcome measure in this population.
