Abstract :
This study begins with a discussion of the main research variables, namely leadership, organizational silence and burnout. The introductory part is followed by an empirical investigation of the effect of leadership styles on organizational silence and burnout. This research study aims to determine how leadership styles affect the organizational silence and burnout, which lead to negative consequences in organizations, in the context of banking industry. Research sample is comprised of 680 banking employees from various provinces and districts in the Marmara region. For data collection purposes, the study features 46-item leadership scale, 30-item organizational silence scale and 22-item Maslach Burnout scale. Frequency analysis, factor analyses, reliability tests and multiple regression tests are conducted on the data. According to the findings of the study, transformational leadership negatively affects all three subscales of organizational silence. Laissez-faire leadership and authoritarian leadership have positive effects on all three subscales of organizational silence. Transformational leadership negatively affects both emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. Laissez-faire leadership has positive effect on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. Authoritarian leadership has positive effect on emotional exhaustion. Transformational leadership and authoritarian leadership have positive effects on personal accomplishment. Laissez-faire leadership negatively affects personal accomplishment
