THE IMPORTANCE AND ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN HEALTH SERVICES
Abstract :
The aim of this research is to emphasize the importance of communication in health care services and to analyze this issue in terms of various variables within this context. The universe of the research carried out for this purpose is constituted by 740 students who are studying at Manisa Celal Bayar University Health Services Vocational School, in 2014-2015 Spring Semester. The sample of the research is composed of 340 students who were randomly included in the scope of the programs given in the higher education to represent the main mass. Demographic Information Form developed by researchers and Communication Skills Inventory developed by Ersanli and Balci were used as data collection tools in the research. In the analysis of data, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA test and correlation analysis were used. When the results obtained from the research were evaluated, male students were found to be more successful in terms of emotional communication than female students. Significant differences were found statistically in communication skills when the type of program students were educated on swas taken into consideration. In the analyses made within the scope of subscales of the scale, it was determined that there is a meaningful and positive relation between these dimensions.
